State board route
The prescriber's licence
State medical boards show whether doctors hold a licence and any public record of discipline, meaning action such as limiting a licence. The board's record does not rate the proposed care.
Evidence you can follow
Use a licence record for a licence question, a drug record for approval history and a study for a treatment claim. The links below lead to government, standards or research sources.

State pharmacy route
To check a pharmacy licence, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) links you to each state's search. FDA oversees drugs in the US.
FDA record
The FDA's historical notice explains Geref's past uses and the finding that it did not leave the market for safety or effectiveness reasons.
Children, not adult wellness
Growth hormone is a substance that carries messages within the body and helps children grow. Thorner and colleagues studied children with a diagnosed shortage. No comparison group received another treatment or no treatment alongside the sermorelin group. That makes it harder to judge how much of the growth change came from sermorelin.
Adult hormone response
Vittone and colleagues found a rise in growth hormone but no change in the measured muscle or fat amounts in older men.
Related substance
Khorram and colleagues studied a close relative of sermorelin, not sermorelin itself. Sleep quality did not change in that study.
PubMed is the US National Library of Medicine's website for finding published medical studies. These links open short accounts of the studies. Ask whether each study answers the question about your care.
When reading a study, check the people enrolled, the treatment they got and the outcome that was measured. For a public record, look for the exact name and current status.
As of September 28, 2026, no FDA-approved sermorelin product is marketed in the US. Ask for a fresh record when making a new decision.
